Candle Care

Burn to the edges

When lighting your candle, its very important to make sure you burn it until the wax is melted all the way to the edges of the glass/pot.

This ensures that no wax is left unused around the sides of the glass - this is called tunneling.

Placement

Keep out of draughts, and relight if candle is extinguished before the wax has melted to the edges.  Burn on a heat proof surface, such as our ceramic coasters.

Trim the wick

Wicks (both cotton and wooden wicks) should be trimmed before lighting it each time.  This prevents sooting, and creates a more even burn.  You can do this with your fingers, a pair of scissors or a wick trimmer.

Keep all three wicks burning on the triple wicks, to ensure a clean even burn.  Never burn any candle for more than 4 hours.

Reusing your jar or pot

Take a look at the refills on offer, and reuse your old Olsten candle glass!

To clean your used glass -

Stop burning your candle when there is roughly 1cm of wax left in the bottom - this prevents the vessel getting too hot.

Pour warm water on the remaining wax and let it melt.  It should soon set hard on top of the water, and be easy to pick out and put in your household bin (it is biodegradable).  You can now rinse and reuse!
